Special Collections
Some of the most important collections identified at ISTF to date can be listed as follows:
- The collection around the Dead Sea, collected for II. Abdülhamit’s nature museum
- Specimens collected during Boissier’s Flora Orientalis study (Boissier, E. (1875). Flora orientalis, sive, Enumeratio plantarum in Oriente a Graecia et Aegypto ad Indiae fines hucusque observatarum (Vol. 3). H. Georg.)
- Hüsnü Demiriz collection (It covers the whole of Turkey, but mostly includes samples collected from Istanbul, Erzurum and Diyarbakır)
- The collection containing geophytes such as Colchicum, Iris, Tulipa, Crocus, collected by Turhan Baytop and arranged on the basis of kinship relations.
- Murat mountain plants collection collected by Ali Çırpıcı
- Uludag plants collection collected by Mehpare and Alfred Heilbronn
- Bilgin Tözün’s Florida (USA) macroalgae collection.
- Collection of specimens from the Alfred Heilbronn Botanical Garden.
- A rich Crocus collection.
